Music…Calming Time…Candlelight…
Please join us for an Evening of Contemplative Music with Josh
Graf on Sunday, March 14 at 7:30PM in St. Augustine Church. This
is an excellent way to spend an hour in thought and prayer as we
journey through the Lenten season. Come and experience this new
prayer form. You will be glad you began your week with music by

RECONCILIATION
OPPORTUNITY - “12 HOURS OF GRACE” is a Lenten
initiative hosted by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church
in New Albany, IN, to invite all Catholics to celebrate the
Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confession is an opportunity to set
aside our sinful ways and to draw closer to our Lord. “12
Hours of Grace” will be held on Thursday, March 18, from
9:00 am to 9:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (1752

COUPON EXCHANGE!
Here is how it works. There is a box in each of the Parish
Offices which contains coupons for anyone who could use them. We
also invite anyone who is interested to share your extra coupons,
the ones you don’t use you can now clip and share with someone else
who would greatly appreciate them. Simply bring any coupons you have
to share to the Parish Office and our wonderful volunteers will
organize them in the Coupon Exchange Box. So remember before you go
shopping or the next time you come by the Parish Office stop in and
check out the coupon exchange box and you might just save some
money.
Low
Gluten Hosts Available For All Liturgies - It
has been brought to our attention that a number of
parishioners are unable to receive communion because
they have a gluten intolerance, and/or wheat
allergies. We will begin offering low gluten hosts
at all liturgies. Prior to the start of the
liturgies at both churches, there will be a small
bowl of the low gluten hosts next to the bread and
wine on the small table in the back of church. Pick
up the low gluten host with the tongs and place in
the bowl of regular bread. At communion time, you
will receive Eucharist from Fr. Tom. These hosts
have been approved by the American Bishops. If you

VIRTUS TRAINING-“Protecting God’s Children” This
training is free to all interested parishioners who
would like more information on the Church’s plan to
prevent child molestation. These sessions are
required for all Church employees and volunteers who
work with children. There are brochures in the racks
in the back of church. You may register online by
going to the St. Augustine home page and clicking on

important to remember to check expiration dates when
donating food items of any type to The Center for
Lay Ministry, the Parishes, Marie Robertson
Ministries, or to any cause feeding the less
fortunate. Food items that are out of date cannot be
used and therefore should not be donated.

NEWS
FROM THE SCHOOL
Pre-Registration forms for
next year were sent out to all current families, as well as to
those who attended our Open House in January. Please return the
forms as soon as possible with the reduced payment of $200.
Families who register after March 31 will pay the full amount of
$300. New families are asked to come to our registration evening
on Monday, March 15 from 4:30-6 PM, to turn in their
forms and make their payments.
Third Grade students are
learning about force, motion, and simple machines in science.
They are also learning about famous inventors and their
inventions and creating PowerPoint presentations to share their
reports.
Fourth Grade students are
learning about how earthquakes and volcanoes form in science and
in social studies they are learning all about Indiana becoming a
state. During this Lenten season they are walking in Jesus'
footsteps and reflecting each week on how they can become more
like him as they journey to Easter.
Fifth Grade students are
learning how to write a research paper. Each student is choosing
a topic that has to do with ocean technology and exploration to
research and write about in theirpaper.
Seventh and Eighth grade
students recently completed classroom competitions for the
annual Optimist Club speech contest. Twelve students were then
chosen to represent Sacred Heart during the next round of
competition, which was held at River Valley Middle School last
week. Those 12 students were: 7th Grade – Tracey Lindsey,
Baylie Sprague, Paige Lorey, Haley Mull, Andrew Harbeson, and
J.P. Miller; 8th Grade – Autumn Kastensmidt, Mary Kate
Meyer, Bryanna Rake, Ashley Carroll, John Renfrow, and Ben
Shahroudi. The results of that competition were not known at
press time, but we will announce the results next week.
Congratulations to all the students who did a great job writing
and delivering their speeches!

SPRING BREAK SERVICE DAYS: Coming back home for Spring
Break, but still want to make a difference? Catholic Youth
Ministries is hosting two days of service for college-age youth
on Tuesdays March 9 and March 16. Hosted by Griffin Street
Recreation Center in New Albany, the days run from 12:30 p.m.-6
p.m., working with senior citizens in the early afternoon and
then after-school programs in the late afternoon. A $5 donation
is requested to help cover the cost for the group meal that will
follow the service activities. Register by sending an e-mail to

MARRIAGE 101: So you popped the big question and she
said, Yes! Now what? The Deanery Catholic Youth Ministry is

NOW? Do you have any old, unused cell phone lying around
collecting dust? There is a local program out of Louisville that
provides these phones for battered women and also sends this
advanced technology to businesses in Mexico. It saves our
landfills by recycling and the company will pay $1.50 per phone.
You may leave the phones at school, the parish office, or
church.
